After Chicago's Twinight label flamed out late in 1971, The Notations found themselves cutting on the far west side at Gene Cash's custom Cash Recording studio. A pair of 45s emerged on the Cash and CRA imprints prior to the trio penning a contract with Curtis Mayfield's Gemigo label, and "That Girl" b/w "This Time I'm For Real" were shelved, or abandoned, more accurately. Known to collectors as The Notations "lost" period, the Cash sessions reveal an unknown peak in this legendary vocal harmony group's storied career.
